- 🇺🇸 The State of Louisiana's new digital driving licence LA Wallet is interesting for a couple of reasons: 1) It comes with new laws and a "no touch" policy that aim to prevent the police from taking people's phones off them and looking up things they shouldn't; 2) It's exploring ways of letting people share individual facts, such as that they are over 21, rather than the full licence; 3) Similar to India's DigiLocker, it seems this is being positioned as a single platform for managing different types of government licence. Sadly, it's not open-source.
- 🇮🇳 It's hard to stay on top of everything that's happening with Aadhaar as it spreads into more aspects of Indian public life, including property registration, municipal cycle hire, digital wallets, tax returns and the purchase of TVs . In addition to all that there is a new type of virtual or 'masked' Aadhaar ID which is temporary and can be used in circumstances where someone doesn't want to reveal their definitive number. Finally, a test case has ruled that the biometrics behind the system must not be used to identify dead bodies.
